Agri Minister Dejan Židan Visiting Russia

Moscow, 16 January 2017 – The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Food, Dejan Židan, is in Russia heading a delegation of businessmen and representatives of scientific institutions. The purpose of the visit is to boost and expand economic and other types of cooperation with the Russian Federation in the field of agriculture, forestry and food. The visit is also meant to make final preparations for the visit of Slovenian President Borut Pahor to Russia in February.

Minister Dejan Židan met with Russian Agriculture Minister Aleksandr Nikolayevich Tkachov this morning. Then he visited the Lomonosov Moscow State University and in the evening the Slovenian delegation is to play a game of chess against the former world champion Anatoly Karpov. 


The agenda for the second day of Minister Židan's visit includes meetings with Communications and Mass Media Minister Nikolai Nikiforov, Deputy Energy Minister Anatoly Borisovich Yanovsky, and Trade and Industry Minister Denis Valentinovich Manturov. 


Slovenian companies will present themselves to potential Russian partners and business meetings will be held between Slovenian and Russian companies. The Slovenian economic delegation will consist of the representatives of the following companies and scientific institutions: DUOL, SIP Šempeter, Mlinostroj, Pomurski Sejem, Geoplin, EHO, Karachun, Mikelj SPIRITS, Tajfun Planina, Iskratel, Comita, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, and the Faculty of Agriculture and Life Sciences (University of Maribor).
