State Secretary Marjan Podgoršek today on opportunities of cooperation with Hong Kong

Ljubljana, 3 April 2017 - Today State Secretary Marjan Podgoršek attended the second part of a business seminar on opportunities for bilateral cooperation with Hong Kong. The event was organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office and Slovenia Times.

The State Secretary Marjan Podgoršek stressed the importance of cooperation between Slovenia and China and Hong Kong. The visit saw the realization of a very important agreement, which was made during Minister Dejan Židan’s visit to China, namely on the return visit of a high delegation from Hong Kong, headed by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Gregory So. Political visits can provide new economic opportunities, which also directly promote business cooperation.

Slovenia is aware of the advantages Hong Kong has as a market and, in addition to domestic population with a high purchasing power, several tens of million tourists visit Hong Kong every year. Hong Kong also serves as a very important market platform for entering a huge Chinese market. Further cooperation between the two countries is accordingly of the utmost importance.
